LAVENDER TEA

LAVENDER BUD TEA
ignore the weeds...LOL....

Oh my goodness......This afternoon, my awesome neighbor gave me a couple of sprigs of lavender that she grows in her yard.  It smelled amazing and I couldn't wait to make into into lavender tea.  The type of lavender that my neighbor gave me was Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead'

I had so much fun making it!  Here is my recipe:

6 tea bags (or 3 family-size tea bags)
1T fresh lavender flower heads
2T fresh lavender leaves
2 c boiling water

Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and lavender. Steep it all for 5 minutes; remove the tea bags and strain the lavender (I used a hand-held strainer).

I then poured the mixture into a pitcher and added water to the 2 qt line.  Sweeten to taste.

In hindsight, I should have only filled the pitcher to the 1 qt line then added ice cubes. That would have cooled it off faster.

Can you say yummy?!  I then decided to get creative and add some essential oils, because I LOVE using oils.  I added about 3 drops of orange essential oil and then about 5 drops of tangerine.  It was very tasty and refreshing.  I can't wait to make another batch!!!

Until next time,

A.Marie
